For the complete documentation index, see [llms.txt](https://docs.glue.ai/llms.txt). Markdown versions of documentation pages are available by appending `.md` to page URLs; this page is available as [Markdown](https://docs.glue.ai/get-started/readme.md).

**Glue is the better way to chat at work, without the noise and channel fatigue.** Replace Slack, Teams, Discord (or whatever work chat you use) with Glue to easily find the right conversations with the right people, every time.

## Key Concepts of Glue

Glue is designed to make communication flexible and focused through two key organizing principles: **threads** and **groups.**

<figure><img src="/files/jG4e5podRA8XzF4O7vTt" alt=""><figcaption><p>Threads and chats can be sent to any combination of groups and people.</p></figcaption></figure>

### Threads

**Threads** **contain topic-focused conversations.** They can be shared with multiple groups, individuals and Glue AI. Your relevant threads are tracked in your personal [inbox](/inbox/inbox.md).

Threads are named with subjects, and contain multiple messages and at least one other participant. Thread participants can include groups and individuals within your workspace, and guests (external users).

### Groups

**Groups** **organize people and collections of threads** for departments, teams or projects. Each group has its own group chat that is private only to group members.

Groups exist within a [workspace](https://docs.glue.ai/workspaces/workspaces), but can include both workspace members and [guests](https://docs.glue.ai/groups/guests) (external users).

## **A More Organized Work Chat**

Glue might look familiar to you at first — and that’s by design. We are not reinventing the entire UI of a work chat app. We are changing how conversations are organized. People and AI have more effective conversations with focused context.

Glue threads provide **focused context** for more effective conversations

* Quickly find the thread of conversation you need by asking Glue AI
* Follow only the threads that are important to you in your inbox
* Invite individuals and groups to specific threads instead of an entire channel
* Archive threads when you no longer need to follow the conversation
* Collaborate with Glue AI directly within a thread — same as interacting with other LLMs like ChatGPT
