Step 2: Add the Zapier app to a thread or group [Direct link to heading](https://docs.glue.ai/integrations/zapier-apps#step-2-add-the-zapier-app-to-a-thread-or-group)

- Add Zapier to a group in order to send a message to a group chat or to create a thread in a group. Navigate to the group and then choose **Apps** from the menu to open the Apps tab of the group settings. From there **Add** Zapier from the list.

- Add Zapier to a thread in order to send a message to a thread. Navigate to the thread and then choose **Thread Settings** from the menu. With the settings open, choose the **Apps** tab, then **Add** Zapier from the list.

Step 3: Create your first Zap [Direct link to heading](https://docs.glue.ai/integrations/zapier-apps#step-3-create-your-first-zap)

- Sign into your Zapier account and create a new zap to connect Glue to any other supported tool.

- Connect your third party account to Zapier as the trigger

- Choose Glue as the app taking action and select one of the following:

- Send Message: Use this action to have Zapier send a new message to a group chat or thread each time the Zap is triggered.

- Create Thread: Use this action to have Zapier create a new thread in a chosen group each time the Zap is triggered. You must add Zapier to a group in order to use this action.

- Connect your Glue account to Zapier

- In a pop up window, click to allow Zapier to send a message in thread

- When you reach the Action section of the Zap set up, you'll need to where you'd like to receive updates:

- For **Send Message**, you can group chats from groups that Zapier has been added to as well as any threads.

- For **Create Thread**, select a group that Zapier has been added to.

- Fill out the subject and message using data fields from your trigger. You can use Markdown to format the message.

- Advanced: If you are using the **Create Thread** action, you can group multiple messages into a thread using the **Thread By Value**. The first Zap that runs with a given value will create the thread associated with the **Thread By Value** and then whenever another Zap runs with the same value, it will add a new message to the thread instead of creating a new thread.

- **Test** your Zap action and then **Publish**!
